The Guardian Scholars Program & Community Engagement Expectations support students' personal and academic growth by connecting them with 91ÁÔÆæ campus resources and cultivating connections through our services.
Staying in the program
In order to stay in GSP, you must:
- actively participate in workshops
- attend signature events
- have one-on-one meetings with staff
- be in good academic standing

Welcome Reception
Orientation to the Guardian Scholars Program.
Meet & Greet
Community engagement event where Guardian Scholars participate in ice breakers and a presentation from an 91ÁÔÆæ Department or Center.
Pancakes & Scholarships
A breakfast with a presentation of the 91ÁÔÆæ Scholarship application process and a resource share of open scholarships opportunities. Financial Aid counselors are invited to this event to aid in facilitating the conversation.
GSP Community Cafe
Weekly convening to share resources through small group presentations from campus and community partners.
Achievement Ceremony
An event focused on celebrating our graduates and our continuing students and their accomplishments. In Fall 2023, we introduced an award for Guardian Scholar of the Year. This award is presented to the student who not only completed all of the program requirements, but is also involved on campus and in their community.
Learning Outcomes
- Increased level of overall self-efficacy.
- Students develop skills for accessing resources and services that support personal well-being and independent living.
- Students demonstrate the ability to use the decision-making process in financial decisions related to planning, saving and investing.
- Students learn leadership skills and increase skills in the areas of personal development, cultural enrichment, and intellectual growth.
- Students engage in relationship building and student involvement on campus and in the greater community to increase their sense of belonging.
