AI+XR Learning Institute

91ÁÔÆæ VR GogglesThe institute focuses on both cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (AR/VR/MR) technologies, aiming to enrich pedagogical approaches and create engaging learning opportunities. This program is designed to empower faculty to explore and integrate AI, XR, or a combination of both, into their teaching practices. Participants will collaborate with AI and XR specialists to develop a range of learning experiences, from AI-driven educational practices to immersive XR learning activities and innovative AI+XR integrated applications. The series of workshops, hands-on activities, and comprehensive resources provided will equip faculty to incorporate a variety of strategies – whether AI-enhanced, XR-based, or a synergistic combination – into their curriculum. 

This is a semester-long program with on-campus sessions and an asynchronous session in April. Participants will receive a certificate and $500 stipend upon completion. Please check back for specific information on the 2026 cohort.

Program Details

Purpose and Guiding Principles

The program builds upon the principles articulated in 91ÁÔÆæ’s Transformation 2030. Participants will explore teaching strategies and activities designed to enhance their students’ academic success by increasing their engagement and immersion within their courses. The program will:

  1. Provide support for exploring applications relevant to the instructor’s content area
  2. Provide guidance in designing and implementing AI/XR learning activities.
  3. Coordinate demonstrations and provide equipment training as needed.
  4. Provide instructional design guidance.
Program Requirements

The completion of the program includes meeting the following requirements:

  1. Attend on-campus program sessions (February - May).
  2. Design/develop an AI+XR learning experience.
  3. Complete activities within the Canvas course.
  4. Meet with an AI and XR Specialist.
  5. Reflect on a class session that implements the learning strategies.
  6. Survey students regarding the effectiveness of the learning experience.

Exploring AI in Education March 14, 2025 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Explore AI's foundational concepts and its practical applications in education.
Integrating AI and XR in Teaching and Learning March 21, 2025 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Explore pedagogically sound strategies on how to effectively integrate AI and XR in educational settings.
Development and Application Phase April 2025 Asynchronous Online Develop teaching and learning projects using AI and/or XR, supported by asynchronous online activities and expert guidance.
Final Presentation Showcase May 2, 2025 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Celebrate and present AI, XR, or integrated projects at the showcase event, highlighting your innovative achievements and shared learning experiences.
