How To Apply

Apply through . Applications will only be accepted for fall terms. Create an account, then search for Master of Design (Special Session). Select this program at San Jos茅 State and complete the application.

Then submit the following required materials to the Department of Design via the :

1. Your current resum茅 documenting your professional and academic experience.

2. An official or unofficial transcript from your most recently earned bachelor鈥檚 or higher degree. Important: You may also be required to submit official transcripts through Cal State Apply or 91猎奇 Graduate Admissions. This departmental submission is separate from any university-level requirements.

3. Your overall cumulative GPA (grade point average) that you earned from your most recently completed bachelors, or higher, degree. This must match what is listed on your transcripts.

4. Provide a link to your online portfolio demonstrating your abilities, experience, and knowledge in design. Projects included should be design-related, but do not have to specifically be design projects. Include at least 10 projects (more is allowed, but quality over quantity is recommended).

5. A statement of purpose addressing the following prompt: Why are you pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in design? Why is this the right time in your career, and why is 91猎奇 the right place for you? (max 1500 characters or about 300 words)

6. A statement of preparation addressing the following prompt: How has your academic, professional, or personal background shaped this decision? What experiences have influenced your goals? (max 1500 characters or about 300 words)

7. A statement of potential addressing the following prompt: What areas of design are you most interested in exploring? What topics, questions, or research directions would you like to pursue in your master鈥檚 project? (max 1500 characters or about 300 words)

8. Two blind recommendations. Each recommendation should be provided by someone who is able to comment on your qualifications for graduate study.

Incomplete or late applications or submitted documents will be rejected.
