K-12 Mentorship Opportunities

Empowering the Next Generation of Change-Makers
The Community Action Center partners with the San Jose community to inspire educational equity. We believe youth are the next generation of leaders—and 91ÁÔÆæ students have the power to help them thrive through uplifting, affirming mentorship.

Requirements for K-12 Programs
Passion for community action and equity.
Open to all 91ÁÔÆæ undergraduate & graduate majors (2.5+ GPA).
Requires Livescan, TB Test, and 91ÁÔÆæ conduct/GPA check. 

Sembradores Program

Connect with local K–5th grade students to build a strong sense of belonging while gaining valuable leadership and research experience. Mentors are paired with local students, and work in groups to analyze systemic disparities and propose solutions.

Mentor Benefits
$1,000 Scholarship (or opt for service-learning hours).
Hands-on leadership, research, and case-study experience.
Resume builder for non-profit, education, and social science careers.
Professional networking opportunities.

Beacon Program

The Beacon Program supports high school students as they prepare to transition into adulthood and post-secondary opportunities. 91ÁÔÆæ student volunteers facilitate interactive workshops, providing personalized guidance and positive role modeling to help high schoolers develop holistic leadership skills.
