The Applied Data Science Department offers interdisciplinary programs, collaborates with Silicon Valley professionals, and specializes in data analytics, data engineering, data science, and cutting-edge generative AI models to meet growing demands for applying data science expertise to solve real-world data challenges.

Silicon Valley is renowned for its pioneering role in the AI economy and the surging need for skilled professionals driven by the rapid expansion of intelligent applications. The department maintains curriculum relevance by consulting top data professionals and companies. Local professionals engage with students through teaching, seminars, internships, and project supervision. Faculty collaborate with industry partners to regularly update the curriculum, ensuring students gain current skills to support regional innovations.

The department is an academic hub, in partnership with other 91ÁÔÆæ departments and industry partners, for promoting education and research in applied data science. In order to address the immense demands of data science professionals, the department launched an MS in Applied Data Intelligence (MSADI) program in August 2018 (formally known as MS in Data Analytics). The MS in Applied Data Intelligence program provides students with the advanced education necessary to develop applied data science solutions. This includes processing and analyzing data from multiple sources, building data pipelines, extracting insights, and developing full-stack solutions. By leveraging data engineering, applied data science, and analytical skills, students learn to tackle practical problems comprehensively from start to finish.

The MSADI program offers two sessions: Regular Session and Special Session.

Regular Session and Special Session students must meet the same graduation requirements and will receive the same diploma when they graduate.
