Bio
Professor Cushing's areas of research and teaching expertise are sustainable water
resources management, environmental policy implementation, and sustainability in higher
education. She is currently serving as the University's Sustainability Director in
the Office of the President for the the 2009-2010 academic year. She teaches courses
in environmental issues, water resources management, and research methods. Recent
M.S. student theses she has served as the thesis chair for include sustainable seafood
purchasing, environmental education in Algebra, graywater use in Berkeley, CA, traditional
ecological knowledge in Palau, and the effectiveness of micro-hydropower projects
in Nepal.
